Confidentiality policy

Your information is confidential

Border Women’s Aid aims to provide a confidential support service to women, children, and young people. Confidentiality is crucial to building trusting relationships between service providers and service users and is an integral part of providing an accessible service. Service users have the right to confidentiality to protect their interests.

Border Women’s Aid understands confidentiality to mean that no identifiable information regarding a service user will be given directly or indirectly to anyone out with Border Women’s Aid without the expressed consent of the service user unless there are extreme or exceptional circumstances. BWA will only breach confidentiality if they consider a child, young person, or vulnerable adult to be at risk. Wherever possible, and if it is appropriate, service users will be informed before any such action is taken.

Responsibility for confidentiality resides with Border Women’s Aid as an organisation rather than with individual staff members.
